Day trip to Austin

We were lucky to be given tickets to the Kansas-Texas football game in Austin a couple weekends ago.  As bad as our football team is (and it's pretty bad), I love supporting our school away from home and feel it's our duty to show up when they are in Texas!
The game wasn't until 2:30, so we just left in the morning.  Everyone slept in so we were later than planned hitting the road and hit cuh-razy traffic in Austin, seriously, we went about 1/4 mile in 45 minutes!!  We made it just in time for the game and the heat!

This was Laney's first KU game, can you believe it?  I can't tell you how hot it was!  Luckily we were in club level seats so we could escape to the air-conditioning when needed.
Laney would clap whenever the crowd was clapping.  We would say, "Laney!  You are cheering for the wrong team!"  She thought it was hilarious.
The kids did pretty good.  Luckily we were on the aisle with no one within 10 seats of us and the kids could sit on the ground to be in the shade.  At this point, Cooper said to me, "This is not entertaining."  I said, "No problem, Dad and I won't bring you next time! :)"  At least twice after we left, he told us how much fun he had and he wanted to go back ;).

 Cooper took over my camera.
With the game being at 2:30, we skipped naps.  The kids slept for about 20-30 minutes before we hit Austin.  Apparently that wasn't enough for Doodles.  She rested on the concrete with Lovey but every time the stadium cheered, she hopped up to join in.

We left during the 4th quarter, our Hawks weren't giving us much hope or really anything to be real proud of :(.  Despite the poor play, we really did have fun and love cheering on our Jayhawks when we can.  The kids were awesome in the car, Adam and I not so much.  We decided it was a lot of driving, about 6 total hours, to stay for just the game.  Hopefully we will be back in a few months to see a good basketball game and with a baby along!!!
