Coop's First Hair Cut

I am sure some of you are thinking...really, a haircut, does he have any hair to be cut?  Yes and Yes!  He had some crazy long flyaways and a small mullet growing over his collar.  He has a big responsibility of ringbearer this weekend, so we had to get him 'groomed.'  I couldn't take him anywhere else than Rebecca's.  She has been cutting my hair for as long as I can remember and talked to Coop a few times while he was still in my belly.  Cooper didn't exactly love the haircut, in fact he was quite whiny...but Rebecca kept going and got the job done!

See how long those hairs are???
This face sums up Cooper's feelings about his haircut
He looks so big in this picture!
Thanks Rebecca, you are the best!!!

Pool Day/Night with Cousins

The Vermillion/Jones kids came over to Coop's grandma and grandpa's pool for swim day.  The kids swam most of the afternoon, took a short break, and then swam most of the evening too.   It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for the pool, and I got some real cute pics!

Taking a break from swimming, love these smiles!

Cash was trying to help Cooper walk

Coop just admiring Braeden, he was really tired at this point...hence, the thumb and blanket

Sleepover!!!

Friday night we had a sleepover with the McCormack kids, however both boys were in bed by 8, so that kind of kills the idea of a sleepover, right?  Well, the boys had fun together before their early departure.  After the boys were in bed, Emily, Adam and I made Oreo milkshakes and watched Madagascar.  Then Adam built Emily a tent to sleep in, in case you didn't know, Adam is the master tent builder. :)

Yes, the boys are in Lola's dog pillow.  The poor girl doesn't have much anymore and then Coop goes and pulls on her ears until she gets out of the pillow, then in goes the boys. :)  I was telling Coop to give Kellen kisses, so he did :).

How sweet is this...Kellen reciprocated the favor.
The two boys are trying to tear down the blockade I built to keep them corralled up.
Saturday morning cartoons in bed
Everybody loves the water!

Imitating Mom and Dad

Yes, that is my cell phone next to Cooper's ear. This should be a sign to Adam and I that we are on our phones way too much! To say he loves my phone would be an understatement. He dives for it anytime and anywhere he sees it...then screams, I mean screams when it is taken away. Any bets on when he asks for his first cell phone???

Caught in Action

We find Cooper here several times a day

He likes to splash in Lola's water
But, her food is his favorite...no joke, he tries to sneak pieces daily and unless we dig them out of his mouth he is quite content eating them...disgusting!

Like Mother, Like Son

So, those of you that know me, know I can eat the same foods over and over and over again.  For example,  almost every lunch of my pregnancy (and still) was a turkey sandwich, carrots, goldfish and fruit.  Well, check out Cooper's lunch today...

Yes, that is turkey, cheese, bread and goldfish.  He finished the carrots and strawberries before I got a picture.  And yes, I know his diet needs to be more varied than mine :).

11 months

I can't believe the next monthly post will be one year, unbelievable!!!  Here is what Coop has been up to in the last month:
- has a love for drinking water, throws back his sippy cup like he hasn't had a drink in weeks!
- first weekend away from mom and dad, he survived...imagine that :).  In fact, pretty sure he didn't realize we were gone
- no more puree foods, just chopped/softened foods, is not digging it.  Believe it or not, he just wants the canned baby food...go figure?  If he could, pretty sure all he would eat is yogurt and goldfish (i ate goldfish probably everyday of my pregnancy with him and still do :))
- 1st steps with assistance, walks behind his 'sit and stand' toy, loves it but has NO interest in standing alone
- the mid-morning bottle was cut out with no problems, 3 more bottles to go
- really waving hi to everyone he encounters and feels a need to outdo the background noise of any restaurant we are in with his vocals
- favorite activity is probably throwing a ball back and forth with someone
-weighing in at 21 lbs, 9 oz

took photos too close to bedtime, the thumb was basically glued in his mouth

Help!!!  Coop looks so grown up to me in this picture :(

Told ya I took pics too close to bedtime

Coop loves Elmo

And this is why Elmo will be the theme for Coop's first birthday party...  Click the link below

Cooper dancing to Elmo

Here are pics...yes, we just pull up Elmo on YouTube, quicker than looking for it on TV and his attention span is about 2 and 1/2 minutes

Can you see his tan lines or is it just me?

River Debut

Cooper made his first of many trips out on Pawpaw and Mamaw's boat.  Coop did AWESOME!  He hardly napped in the afternoon, but was a trooper until sunset.  He swam with Dad and Papaw, completely content in Dad's arms just hanging out.  On the boat, he just played with his toys, did so much better than we gave him credit for!  He was a little gender confused in Emily's hand me down pink lifejacket, oops!  I am sure he will hate us for that in 10 years when looking back on pictures. :)  Oh well...  Have I mentioned how much we LOVE summer!!!!

Where are my shades?  See the pink lifejacket, doesn't make for such a cute baby girl!
It's like where's waldo in the corner :)

Bottle #1 gone...3 to go

Buh-bye mid-morning bottle!
Yes, 1 bottle gone, three to go!  This one was easy to give up, it was after his morning nap but usually just an hour before lunch.  He was taking the bottle fine, but then lunch was becoming a nightmare. I have been trying more 'big kid' food with him and he was not digging it.  In fact, mealtime was becoming a nightmare, picture lips locked shut, head shaking no, and arms flailing sending food flying off thet spoon!  You should have seen what I was doing to get this kid to eat.  My 'mom' friends suggested cutting out a bottle, then he would be more hungry, happy to say they were right!  He still isn't a 'great' eater, but does LOVES his Cheerios, Yogurt, and Goldfish.  Any advice on what bottle to cut out next: the one with breakfast, after afternoon nap, or nighttime???

Always a good sleeper

How did he go from this...
to this in less than 11 months???

A new best bud!

This week we got to meet the newest addition to our good friends, the Alfermanns.  We are ecstatic Knox is here and that Cooper has someone to teach all his tricks to :) He is adorable and just so 'baby!'  It was crazy to see the difference in 6 week old Knox and 11 month old Cooper, a lot changes in just months!!!  Knox slept peacefully while Coop attempted to destroy the Dempsey house. :)

Not too long ago, the two of us were living in Dallas/Fort Worth with our husbands and the thought of kids nowhere in sight...

In Knox's defense, he slept almost the whole time we were there.  I didn't have my camera out until he was hungry. :)

4th of July

We traveled west on I-70 to KC for the long weekend.  We tried laying by the pool, but the clouds/rain didn't allow much of it, we ate too much grilled food...no more hamburgers/hot dogs for a while, and had family and friends over to enjoy it all.  Coop was sound asleep by fireworks time, so no good stories on his reactions.  I planned on having lots of fun pool and BBQ pics, but the cloudy/rainy weather ruined that plan. :(  Here's what I got...

We caught up with cousin Cash at the parade!
Chilling in Cash's lawn chair...it was quite popular with all the kids
Closely watching the parade
Hope you all had a happy 4th!!!
