Big Boy Bed!!!!

Warning-this is a looonnng post!

That's right, our little man is officially out of the crib and into a big boy bed in a new room!  Two of our upstairs bedrooms are connected by a Jack and Jill bath.  One is smaller than the other, Coop has been in the smaller of the two and the other has just been a guest room.  We wanted to keep the nursery where it was and move Coopie to the bigger room.  This way, the kids are still sharing the same bath.  We originally thought we would wait until after the baby was here and let him adjust to that before moving him.  Then we thought it would be nice to have one less transition to worry about once #2 arrives.  We really didn't have any plan of action on how or when, it just kind of happened.  Coop and I had been shopping at Target a few weeks ago and I let him pick out what bedding he wanted, here's a shocker...he picked Toy Story!  Oh man, did I want to splurge and get this bedding!  He loves construction stuff now and I think it is soo cute!  But, I couldn't imagine spending more $$ on his bedding than our own and know that he'll be wanting to change it soon enough anyway.  So, Toy Story it was and he couldn't have been happier!

When my mom was in town we moved Coop's clothes into the new room and moved all the baby stuff into the nursery.  Then one night last week, Adam and I moved his bed around and made it with the new sheets.  We talked all about him sleeping in a big boy bed in a new room really soon!  The following night we put up the guardrail and he and Adam read books in the big boy bed.  Then Adam comes out and says, "he's in bed, wanted to read books on his own."  What??? Just like that?  Was it going to be that easy?  Sure enough, he read his books for about a half hour, we kept going to check on him and then he was out.  We closed the door to his bathroom and put a gate up at his bedroom door so he couldn't do any sneaking out.  He slept all night and woke up so happy the next morning when Adam and I went to check on him.  We are on night number 4 and so far so good!  He fusses a little bit at night, but we usually leave him with a book and he's good, reads for a while and eventually is out.  He was up at 5 and 6 this morning, but both times I just went up and rubbed his back and he was back to sleep until 9:30!  Naps have been good too, the first day was only a little over an hour and he was up and out of bed on his own.  This made me nervous as he is usually a solid 2-3 hour napper, but he hasn't done that since.  So far, that is the only time he has been out of bed.  Now, there is nothing in his room to distract him right now, literally a bed, desk, and dresser, no toys to get out and play with.   And at this point, we will probably leave it at that.  However, I do need to work on some wall decor, it is bare bones right now!  If you have some creative and easy ideas, send them my way!

We can't believe our baby boy is sleeping in a big bed and going to be TWO this week, where does the time go?

One of the last nights in his crib, definitely outgrowing it!  We had not given him a pillow yet, does that make us the worst parents ever?  No reason why, he was just always content without one.  As for his nightly companions...well, 'blanket' has been around the longest, since he was about 4 months.  'Buzz blanket' was a Christmas gift from Grandma and Grandpa.  'Puppy Doggy' got added to the mix a couple months ago when he was waking up scared in the middle of the night.  'Spiderman' is the most recent addition.  He was a hand me down from the Viscek cousins and Coop just loves him!

Coop and I made his bed after nap one day and I talked to him about how this bed was for sleeping and not jumping.  Well, he and Dad were upstairs while I was down and this is what I came up to...lots of jumping!

"Wasn't me Mom!"
Pretty excited about his new bed!
 Books with Dad
Our poor, sad, cone collared Lola :(.  An update on her-after 4 days/nights, we took the collar off. She was miserable and we were tired of listening to her scratch thru the night and rubbing that plastic collar up against us (yes, she sleeps with Adam and I, but we are hoping she starts sleeping with her brother :)).  She was a changed dog when that was off and who can blame her!!?  Staples look great and we go tomorrow to get them taken out.
Sound asleep on night one!  Doesn't he look cozy?  There was already a queen bed in this room, so we didn't see any reason to go smaller, figure he will grow into it eventually!

The next morning :)
Here he was telling me that Spiderman wanted his picture taken.  He didn't want to get out of bed the next morning, just wanted to read books and talk about his new bed and room.
Oh, so happy!  These Barney pjs are also hand me downs from the Visceks that he loves!

As far as the next milestone, potty training??  Ha!!!!  Don't hold your breath on that one!
