Father's Day

Thanks to Pinterest we created our Father's Day gift.  

 Adam spent the morning golfing with the other dads in my family.  He played the best round of his life so I thought it was worth documenting.  

I texted him and asked for a selfie of all the Dads.  After he sent this, I asked for a redo and didn't get a pleasant response from the bunch, so this is as good as it gets.

We are super thankful for this equally hard working and fun Dad!  He is the perfect balance to me in this parenting gig we tackle everyday.  

 One day while Laney was at cheer camp we went Father's Day shopping for the Grandpas.  We headed to Dick's for gift cards for the Grandpas.  That is what we sent to Papa since they have a store in Wash, MO now that he can shop in.  Cooper decided to get Grandpa a baseball glove because he had been playing barehanded.  Cooper said he had been smokin' some balls by him and he could use a glove (those were his exact words ;).

 I am so thankful for my Dad, he's the best!  He never turns down a request to play ball or read a book to the kids...no matter how many hours he has worked in the day.

How the rest of us kept busy during cheer camp

Laney wasn't the only one having fun!  While she was at cheer camp, we made the best of the 2 hours we had!

 Monday we went to the grocery store and CostCo, no pics from that excitement ;).  Tuesday we went blueberry picking at The Berry Patch.  It was crazy muddy but we had fun!

 Just like strawberry picking, Piper ate her weight in blueberries.

 On Wednesday we went to Deanna Rose!  Piper is in an animal loving stage-she gets so excited to see the cows and goats.

Thursday we went to visit sweet baby Madeline!  Cooper was determined to hold her:).  She's so sweet and I would sneak her home in my purse if I could!

I had a fun few mornings with my oldest and youngest!  Multiple times Cooper said, "It's so quiet with Laney not around."  I just laughed and said, "yes it is but it's not near as funny as it is usually is either."

Cheer Camp

Laney did her first cheer camp with Lynn O'Brien back in January.  It was just one day and she loved it!  For months after she would watch her dance on video and dance along with it.  So it was a no brainer to sign her up for a summer cheer camp.  She went M-F, 9:30-11:30 and then they performed at the T-Bones game that Friday night.  

 The main problem...she couldn't wear a dress.  She is in a 'wear a dress everyday' stage right now so she would come home from cheer camp and change into a dress.

 She was happy to go to cheer camp every morning and happy when I picked her up but she wouldn't tell us anything she was learning...stinker!

She's growing up so fast - she looks so grown up and beautiful!

 She was super shy during the dance, was watching the girls around her more than dancing her own moves...very unlike Laney.

 If you have to go watch your sister cheer, it's pretty great to do it at a baseball game!

 This little one is a handful in public places these days!  Coloring kept her busy for about 3.5 minutes.

 She decided this was her water bottle and there would be no sharing, specifically with her sister.

 Grandma and Grandpa spent their Friday night watching this girl.

We did cheer camp the same week as the Nitschke and Cook girls which I know Laney loved.  It was nice for her to see familiar faces from day one.  Love these girls!

10 years

This was 10 years ago...

 What??  How did that happen??  And did we get married when we were 15??  Our wedding day was so much fun and exactly as I had imagined.  If I could recreate our reception again, I would do it in a heartbeat!

 My mom and dad kept the kids so we could go out to dinner.  My only requirement was that we get out of our Johnson County bubble!  KC has such great spots yet, we seem to always stay close to home.  Rusty had told us about Q39 so we went with it.  BBQ is a romantic dinner for your 10 year anniversary, right??  Let's be honest, dinner without kids is romantic no matter where you are!

It was all so, so good!  I don't love BBQ, but I am ready to go back again.

 We went for dessert next.  We had read about this homemade ice cream/cookie shop but again...it's outside our comfort zone so we hadn't been yet.  Adam's favorite dessert is cookies and ice cream so he was in heaven.  It was so delicious!

I was taking pictures of our night like I was a tourist in another city ;).  I don't get out much.

Next we went to Hotel Sorella on the Plaza for drinks.  It has a rooftop bar and it was a beautiful night out!  Yes, we were in matching shirts and for the record, I was dressed first.  Guess who totally called us out on our matching shirts when we walked out on the patio...

Awful pic to choose but you get the idea...it's Champ from Anchorman!!!  By the time we left, we had made family connections in Stilwell and Washington...crazy!  

Our waitress was the sweetest and brought us lemon cheesecake...so I had my second dessert of the night.  

We chatted about our first 10 years and how lucky we are, I hope and pray that the next years are just as joyful!!!!!!!!  Love you Adam!

Piper's 1st Haircut!

1st haircut in the books at 18 months!  It was long overdue, just hate that first haircut...cutting off the hair they came into the world with ;(

 I checked on her one night and saw this, made me laugh.

 Not a ton to cut off but it turning into a rat tail that needed a trim.

 We liked to have fun with that long hair during baths.

Ashley (my cousin Brad's wife and also my sister in-laws sister...did you follow that?? ;)) has given Laney and Piper their first hair cuts.  Funny part...Laney's first haircut was at 3 1/2 ;).  Piper adores Ashley!  She was acting so shy for camera and then wouldn't come back to me to leave, I had to pry her out of Ashley's arms!
