Our last dentist visit was almost exactly one year ago, see it here. The kids were fine going - not excited, but not complaining. I told them exactly what the dentist was probably going to do (and they did) and that they would get a new toothbrush and toothpaste…happy kids about that!
He went first to show his little sister how its done. He was awesome! The dentist does have some concern about his left front tooth (the one he has fallen and damaged twice). It is a bit loose and she thinks it might be causing some damage to his permanent tooth. We are going to do X-rays and reexamine the issue in 6 months. There is a chance it will need to be pulled.
Laney was a bit reluctant. She kept her lips shut tight. I ended up holding her hand and she relaxed enough to let the hygienist clean her teeth. So, so much better than a year ago. Her teeth looked awesome!!
So not only did they get toothpaste, toothbrush, balloon, and toy…they got a cup of vanilla ice cream! Can you believe that? Ice cream at 10am - they were in heaven!
This should make them excited for their next visit in February!
A cup of ice cream after a trip to the dentist is well-deserved for those two adorably-behaved kids! I'm glad the trip was an overall success, despite Laney's reluctance of the trip. Kudos to you for making her feel comfortable during the whole process! Thanks for sharing all about that day! All the best to the whole family! :)

Isn't it amazing how kids seem to be the only ones who get excited about going to the dentist? What happens to mommy and daddy along the way that makes it seem like a chore? Oh, to catch that youthful enthusiasm again about the small things in life would be so grand.

Really enjoyed your blog!!! I especially liked the one about the Dentist Visit. For some reason I think a lot of families (and I include mine in this opinion) are very fearful about going to the dentist. On that note, have you been to Village-Dental.com? If nothing else is a good resource.
