Weekend Recap

Last weekend (not this past weekend but the one before...clear as mud??) we had some fun as a family just being at home and not on the road!
The Galbraiths came over Friday and hung out with the girls while Coop and I were at Kinder round up.
We finally pulled out our kites from LAST Easter and put them to use.  I was prepared for lots of frustration but it went so well!
He did awesome and had it flying as high as our roof at one point.  I don't have any pictures of Laney flying hers as she needed my help the whole time.
Saturday morning this girl woke up totally lethargic and with a crazy stinky diaper...like walk in her room and swear she had thrown up stinky.  She wouldn't leave my lap and was back asleep an hour later.
We spent the rest of the morning under the island coloring, it's one her favorite things to do now.
She colored with us when she wasn't busy taking phone calls and taking care of her babies.
While us girls were hanging out at home, the boys went out and had some fun.   They hit up the driving range.  Coop has been asking for awhile so he was pretty pumped.
A Sprite at the clubhouse after hitting some balls, life doesn't get much better for this kid.
I texted Adam to send me a selfie and this is what I got.

They stopped for lunch.  Adam still eats like he is a 21 year old hungover college student.
Saturday night, Adam and I went out to dinner with some friends, my Stella & Dot upline.  She graciously gifted me this Louis Vuitton purse for hitting a leadership level with Stella & Dot...that was fun!
Sunday morning was rainy- we went to church and then out to lunch with these 3 crazies.  I tried to get them all standing and holding hands but Piper refused to stand...there always has to be an uncooperative one!
Laney chose her outfit for the day ;) and look at me in the mirror trying to get them to all smile while Adam snaps pics, lol.
We went to Ted's, the new restaurant in OP.  It was so so good, Laney approved.  I wish I would have taken a picture of Adam's plates, the amount of food he consumed was cah-razy.
It was nap time and she was over lunch.  She doesn't suck her thumb unless she is tired.  The minute she gets her blanket in her hand, in goes the thumb.  It melts our heart!

It was a good, good weekend!

Kindergarten Round Up

Yes, that's right, Kindergarten round up.  I would like to know how this happened...
He has been so sweet from day 1.  I remember late nights feeding him and telling Adam when he was sleeping thru the night that I kind of missed our middle of the night feeding sessions.  (clearly a first born thought as I could basically sleep when I wanted to during the day!)  We brought him home in Texas, moved to St. Louis shortly after, were back in Texas before he was 18 months and finally in Kansas when he turned 5 1/2.  I swear that is what made him the best traveler!
For 2 years and 12 days, it was me and him from 9-5...more like 7-6 and lots of nights and weekends due to Dad's traveling.  We played endless hours of trucks, reading books, and ball.  I remember the days when the minutes and hours seemed to slowly tick by...looking at the clock and thinking it's only 3:30!?  I thing I was even bored at times...ha! I can't imagine being bored now...it kind of sounds dreamy!
I swear to you we were just celebrating his first birthday!!!  However, somehow it is time for him to head to Kindergarten...can you tell I am just a tad bit sad about this ;).  I can't believe he could have gone last year!  Best decision ever was holding him back a year!!!!!
We walked to school which was fun, he thinks that's pretty cool.  He was really excited, couldn't stop talking on the way there and then about 30 feet from the door tells me, "I am scared.  But it will be ok, I was scared of preschool too and it was good."  His heart kills me...and will probably keep me sane when I have 2 teenage girls, yikes!
I had warned him that we were going to be separate for a while but other than that I wasn't sure what was planned for the morning.  We walked in and a sweet 4th grade girl whisked him away with all the other kids.  Only in Blue Valley do you get a 2 hour presentation on Kindergarten...what?!  Is it just because I used to be a teacher...this seems to be a little much!  I mean, they are babies!  You are supposed to teach them how to share, walk in a line, and start their love for reading.  I just want a teacher that truly loves what she is doing to inspire him to love learning-who cares if a kid is reading by the end of Kindergarten???
After 2 hours we were reunited and walked back home.  I asked him how it was and his reply was, "It was good, I only cried for you a little bit."  What?!  I asked him why and he said, "You had been gone a real long time and I missed you, then a teacher told me you would be back soon so I stopped."  I couldn't believe it-I really didn't think he would miss me a bit!  He said he had fun and saw some kids from preschool, soccer and baseball.

The first day of school is also his 6th birthday, August 12th...it's really not fair to a mom to hit 2 big milestones in one day!!

Royals Home Opener

After a trip to the World Series, we have never been more excited for a Royals opening day!
We couldn't find it on TV so he followed the first few innings on the computer and reported to me while I made dinner.  We had a baseball menu...burgers, hot dogs, popcorn...and sweet potato fries.  Rusty helped us find it on TV, much better than an online following.
Grandpa and Grandma gave all the kids Royals shirts in their Easter baskets.
Apparently Henley was tired of listening to Piper squeal ;).
I have started running...if you can call it that.  I had to stop one evening to take a picture of the sunset, and this picture doesn't even do it justice!

Easter, continued

We came home, hit up the grocery store, changed clothes and headed to Mama Kelly's house for Easter lunch.
 Easter Egg hunt!
Smile for a picture or I will take all your candy...yep, I said that.  Happy Easter kids from your loving mother.
 so many outtakes...
This was the best one I got!

Just a little over a years difference in these pics...that's crazy!  They have grown into such beautiful little girls!
These two!  There are the epitome of a threenager!  It's a good thing they are cute because they are oh so ornery!!!!  I mean- cats on hay bails???!!

I think this one of maybe 5 pictures that I have of our whole family where everyone is looking at the camera.
Hope you all had the happiest of Easters, we sure did!

Cooper telling the Easter story

The kids attend a Christian preschool that we adore.  The Bible is a big part of their curriculum and Cooper has totally taken to it.  He asked for a Bible for Christmas and we read from it every night.  He is very interested in the stories and it's so great to talk with him about it all.  In fact-Adam and I are more into the Bible than we ever have been.  You know how you hear that your kids teach you more than you teach them, well this is a perfect example.  Our family has never read more from than the bible than in the last few months.
In his class the week of Easter, they created the Easter story in 12 steps.  Each part of the story was a picture inside a plastic egg and they are all in an egg carton.  From just the picture, he was able to tell the story of Easter.  After the first time he told Adam and I the story, we decided we probably didn't need to go to church for Easter...we basically got it all from our 5 year old ;).
Warning...it's long, but so so worth it...especially if you didn't go to Easter mass ;).

Easter weekend in Wash, MO

We unpacked, packed again and got back in the car Friday afternoon for a weekend in Wash, MO.

We went to Maggie and Kyle's first for dinner and to hang out.
Aunt Maggie had bought all the little girls Sofia the First nightgowns.  The picture doesn't show it, but they were so, so excited!
Dance party!  They were all having much more fun (except for Piper) than this picture depicts.
We sang and celebrated Uncle Aaron's birthday.
Saturday we celebrated Easter with a big hunt, good food and lots of playing.  Unfortunately Brynn wasn't feeling very good so she didn't get as much playing time.
Pre-Easter Egg hunt.  Piper had just went down for a nap-party pooper.

 Organized chaos!
She woke up and got to open her Easter gifts solo.
Aunt Maggie had her friend make us some super cute and delicious cookies!
 The Jones' drive thru.

She told me she was sending emails about her wedding;).
Piper Marie with the original Marie.
The Easter Bunny found us at Mamaw and Papaw's house!  We got on the road back to KC that morning so we could do Easter lunch with my family.
She always wants to hold my hand on road trips...so sweet...not so sweet is how much she whines in the car on road trips.
We got home and they filled up their Snackeez cups right away!
I wanted to get a pic of her in her bunny pjs and this was as good as it got!

It was a busy Easter weekend and we still had the rest of the day to conquer!
