We've created a monster

So, my Yukon has a DVD player installed in the ceiling.  Fabulous, right? Well, yes and no.  It is wonderful on our frequent car trips to KC, keeps the Coopster entertained and happy.  Elmo (3 different) and Bob the Builder are our current faves.  The downside of this is demonstrated in the picture below.  Many times we get in the car this is what he does and he usually isn't happy about it.  However, I am bound and determined to not turn that thing on unless we are road for over an hour, because he is actually entertaining in the car: dances, talks a lot, and watches out the windows! But when that DVD is on, he becomes a thumb sucking zombie fixated on the screen.
  He hasn't broke me yet...

Fun Fall Weekend

Since our Jayhawks were playing at home this weekend, we headed to KC!  Gigi, Mamaw and the McCormacks made the trip in too.  We celebrated Gigi's 82nd birthday with dinner, ventured to Ciderfest, celebrated Cooper's friend Anna's 1st birthday and hung out with family...such a fun weekend!

Gigi with the Jones' kids and grandkids
At the Louisburg Cider Mill, impossible picture to get.  Coop would not take his eyes off of Emily's sucker!  Cooper shared an apple cider slush with Grandma and LOVED it, couldn't tear the straw out of his mouth!  Let's face it, the real reason for going...I had to have some cider doughnuts (ate an unmentionable amount) and Aunt Alli was dying for some kettle corn :).  Click here to see how trip to the Cider Mill last year, such a huge difference!
We got to catch up with the Visecks while visiting Great-Mama, here's Coop and Nick.
Coop and Ava, these kids were putting on quite the dance show to entertain him...hilarious!!! Brody was there too, had just finished a long day of basketball.

Great weekend, but went by way to quick!!!

Suson Farm

Friday was a beautiful morning so we headed to the park with the McCormacks and some other friends.  The kids played on the playground and then we saw some farm animals.  Not the best pictures but it was a busy place filled with lots of kids!  This was the first place we have gone since Coop has been a full time walker and it was really nice.  I could put him down to walk or he could just hold my hand, we weren't stuck in the stroller full time.

checking out the chickens

just couldn't get him to stand still for a pic with the pigs!

13 months and cruising

Coop has been walking for a few weeks now, but just in the last week he has really figured it out.  He is rarely crawling places anymore and can go quite the distance before biting it.  Throughout the day, he circles our first floor countless times, usually with a ball, either kicking it around or throwing and then chasing it.  This $2 ball is definitely one of Coop's favorite things!!!

With walking comes lots of new bumps/bruises too...see the forehead, that was from a kitchen cabinet
Off he goes!

a wink and a smile

We have learned to wink, in his own special way...
also, trying to climb everything in sight!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk-trip number 2

yikes!  have really been slacking on the blog lately!  we were in kc for a week and i forgot my camera cord, hopefully this won't be the only update this week!!!

We are ecstatic for KU football season this year because we get to go to every game!!!  Why, you ask?  Well, Adam's company, ZM-Media has a contract with the sports marketing department.  At every home game, you can find us before the game at the bottom of the hill.  Adam has the Jumbotron set up playing other games of the day and then has TV towers in the sports marketing tailgate tents.  If anybody is headed to Lawrence, please let me know, would love to catch up!

The first game was a beautiful day so we decided to take Coop to his first game.  Adam and I went up early to set-up, so Grandpa brought Coop just in time for the game.  Obviously this was way more exciting for us than him, however he did have fun!  He traded laps between myself, Adam and Grandpa, sucking his thumb most of the time (of course).  We are really hoping to take him to Allen Fieldhouse this year for a basketball game too!

The jumbotron in action, doesn't look so 'jumbo' sitting behind the football field screen!
Coop was loving this Big Jay!
Cooper and Grandpa
What a difference a year makes!  Last year, Coop tailgated/slept the entire time for the OU-KU game.  This year, totally alert and actually paying attention to the game!  Wow, what will next year bring..probably a 2 year old running up and down the rows!
This is exactly how we were all feeling in the 6-3 loss to North Dakota State, however the Hawks totally redeemed themselves this past weekend in the victory over #15 Georgia Tech!!!!!!!!!!!
We just had a great time!!!!!!!!!

Childproofed...not anymore

I hate the thought of climbing over a gate e-v-e-r-y time we go up and down the stairs, which seems like 100 times a day, so I have had diaper boxes blocking the stairs.  It has worked like a charm.  Coop has used them to put toys on and play, they are easy to move and step over.  However, today Cooper has met this challenge.  Looks like the gate will be coming out soon. :(  The part I am dreading most... Lola whining at it because she follows me anytime I go up and down the stairs.  Here is the escapee in action!

just getting started
halfway there
And over he goes!  Those long legs really came in handy today!
