A Good Education

Just chillin in his Bumbo seat, taking in the game

Yes Cooper, the Tigers make me want to throw up too

"Is this Tiger team a joke or what?"

We were pumped for the game tonight, couldn't wait for Cooper to experience his first KU/MU basketball game, in our words a good education for the little man.  We put him to bed at halftime (in his Jayhawk jammies of course) as it was obvious a win was in order for the Hawks.

The Pink Stuff

I think my dad said it best this week when he said, "You should have just asked for a 5 gallon bucket of that stuff."  In other words, we are sure this is just the beginning of amoxicillin prescriptions.  I remember taking this when I was sick as a kid...still tastes just as good as it did 20+ years ago!  Cooper was really fussy in the evening, runny nose, and putting everything he could find in his mouth.  We weren't sure if he was teething or ear infection.  Luckily his Aunt Tanya is an audiologist and checked out his ears to confirm an ear infection.  So, we headed to the doctor to get a prescription written.  Well, we made it a whole 5 months with no prescriptions/sick dr visits...let the games begin!

5 Months

Cooper turned 5 months on January 12.  Here are the happenings from the last month in the life of Cooper:

  • He weighs 16lbs 8oz, the 50%ile and measures 28 inches long, in the 90%ile.  He has officially doubled his birth weight!

  • We cut out his late night feeding, which means he is going to bed earlier, usually between 8:30-9:00.  He typically sleeps until 7:00-8:00 the next morning...so nice :)

  • He had his first cold with a runny nose and cough, didn't really slow him down any.

  • He had his first overnight slumber party without mom and dad.  Grandpa and Grandma Souders (plus visits from aunts and uncles) kept him overnight while Adam and I pretended we were still in college at the Stauffer's Christmas party!

  • He discovered his toes!  At every diaper change he his playing with his feet and consistently trying to pull his socks off.

  • He is still in size 2 diapers, we switched from Pampers to Huggies after one too many blowout diapers.  He is mostly in 6-9 month clothes.

  • He is still taking formula at night and eating cereal at the same time.

  • Cooper is getting better at rolling over, just belly to back.  He loves being in his exersaucer and playing peek-a-boo!

Bath Time!

Cooper and cousin Kellen

We changed up bath time a little this weekend. We usually use the baby bath seat for Coop but since Kellen was joining him, we got out the Bumbo so we could fill the tub with some water. Cooper was great in the Bumbo, however it definitely took both Adam and I to wash him. Let's hope Coop's love of bath time continues!

Yes, our baby is under there

So, this is how Cooper falls asleep at every nap and bedtime. Since about three months, he has loved his blanket when he gets sleepy. He has to have his blanket and rub it all over his face, in fact he usually doesn't fall asleep unless the blanket is covering his head. As a new mom, I hate this habit because I am always taking the blanket off in fear of suffocation. Thank God for video baby monitors!

All the Single Ladies...

The shirt speaks for itself...
"Who me?"
Sweet Anna is six weeks younger than Cooper and he was showing her the ropes...the exersaucer, babbling, and trying to roll all over her.

We had a fun week in KC with all the girls! Anna Stilley and her mom Jenny came to visit. Anna and Cooper did a lot of staring and Cooper tried to eat Anna's hands. As Jenny and I were both nursing in the living room, my mom was kind enough to pull out a picture of us from just a few years back playing flip cup at The Bull. Oh how life changes!

We were lucky enough to have Emersyn for a whole day to ourselves! We had so much with Coop and Emersyn. I have a new respect for mothers of twins, it was a busy day and I even had help! Coop and Emersyn were great, we actually had them on the same schedule of sleeping. The two babies talked, rolled around, stared at each other, and planned their futures...

Thanks girls for your visit, it was a blast!

Birthday Party Fun!

Cooper's first meeting with Curious George
Cousin Emily and the birthday girl Parker. They thought the gift shop was one of the best parts!
Getting SO big!

Cooper got his first invite to a birthday party! It was his friend Parker's 2nd birthday at the Magic House in St. Louis. Parker was sweet enough to invite Cooper's cousin Emily since he wasn't going to do much playing at the party. Thanks Parker for a fun party!

Texas Born and Texas Proud

Hook 'Em Horns
I promise we didn't position this...

Coop was finishing up his nighttime bottle, when I looked down to see him showing the hook 'em horns sign! He was born in Texas and I guess this is his way of showing support for the Longhorns tonight. Too bad he is already asleep, we will have to fill him in tomorrow. :) However, the anti-Texas folks will be quick to point out his horns are pointed down, I guess he is still a Jayhawk at heart.

Cowboy Cooper

There's a new sheriff in town... What is it about baby boys in cowboy hats that is just too cute!?!

Trouble...

Can you say TROUBLE? These are Cooper's two cousins Kellen and Cash, they were all born within the same year. Kellen is six months older than Cooper and Cash is almost exactly one year older. This was the best picture I had of the three of them, but I thought it was fitting. In years to come, it is certain they will be creating chaos! These two boys, or should I say their Moms, are the ones to thank for most of Cooper's wardrobe. He is usually well dressed thanks to them!

The Jones Boys

The four generations of Jones boys! Cooper is with his cousin Cash, Dad, Uncle Aaron, Papaw Jones, and Great-Grandpa Jones.

Christmas at the Jones'

Just a little cousin love between Cash and Cooper :)
Rock Chalk! Every boy needs a KU stocking cap in his wardrobe!
He was more interested in eating the wrapping paper than the gifts! We all know this won't last long!
Again with the wrapping paper...when he has such a fun toy right in front of him!

We had Christmas Part II at the Jones' this past week. It was fun to do it all over again! There are 6 grandkids under the age of 9, so it is usually pretty crazy! Cooper got more fun toys and some cute clothes. He is one lucky baby!!!

Cooper's First Time in the Snow!

Very unlike his mother, Coop seems to like the snow. However, this was the extent of his playtime in the snow for this year. Can't wait to see his reaction next year!

More Christmas

This is a handmade bench from Cooper's Great-Uncle, such a special gift!
He can't wait to get his hands on her! And yes, Lola is wearing a Christmas dress!
Our two kids in front of the Christmas tree :)

My First Christmas!

Dad, Cooper, and Lola exhausted after a morning of opening presents and big breakfast
Gotta love the reindeer feet!
Christmas morning, surrounded by gifts.
Coop's gift to Grandma and Grandpa
Santa brought Cooper 'My Pal Scout' and he loves it!

Cooper's first Christmas was so much fun! Obviously, Adam and I enjoyed it way more than Coop. It was a beautiful white Christmas morning in Kansas, the first snow on Christmas Day since 1962. That has to be a good luck sign for Cooper and his first year, right??? Cooper must have been very good, because he got lots of gifts from Santa. He got My Pal Scout, books and musical drums, not to mention all the gifts the family spoiled him with. It is crazy to think this time next year he will be walking all over the place!!!
